The brief history of Vintiga

Vintiga History

Over a decade ago, I made up the name Vintiga that sounded interesting, was unique and in theory, no one else would want to use for anything.  In 2015, I registered the domain name and left it dormant for a couple years and in 2017, the first variation of the site was launched.

Early on I tried to create an original and unique logo and it served as the splash page for the site.  Then, I saw something distressingly similar and created another logo around 2017/2018 timeframe.  Yet a third iteration of the logo came about in July 2023. The current version came about sometime late 2024.

Site hosting

The search for best hosting platform and features has always always been a challenge.  Vintiga has been hosted via Zenfoilio, Smug Mug, Square Space and even self hosted.  The current hosts works but it is not perfect.

Vintiga in Social circles

On and off the Vintiga name has existed on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  Activity on the various platforms waxes and wanes depending on my abundance of free time and energy.  (mainly due to major burnout of various kinds).

Vintiga in the world

Late 2025, a different company was created with a similar name.  Much to my surprise!!!  Said company offered to buy the domain from me, which I did briefly consider, however, my website had built up a presence that I didn’t want to rebuild elsewhere.  I honestly couldn’t find a viable replacement and provided the limited time and resources, I decided against selling Vintiga.com.

Since it was assumed that no one would the name, precautions were not taken.  As it stands now, the .net, .org, and.ia domainsare lost to me.  Vintiga as a handle on Instagram is lost to me.  Losing the name on nstagram was a huge loss, it was planned to be part of the relaunch of the site.  Options for the Vintiga name on other platforms may have been taken by this new company and I am too frustrated to investigate.
